Studiebeurzen

Het belangrijkste doel van de stichting is mensen ondersteunen in hun eigen ontwikkeling. Een zeer belangrijke bouwsteen om de eigen ontwikkeling mogelijk te maken en de horizon te verbreden is het volgen van onderwijs. Onderwijs in Malawi is beperkt toegankelijk voor Malawianen. Basis onderwijs is weliswaar gratis, maar niet verplicht en middelbaar onderwijs moet altijd voor betaald worden door (de familie van) de scholier. Hierdoor is middelbaar onderwijs voor velen niet bereikbaar.

Onze stichting wilt middelbaar onderwijs mogelijk maken voor gemotiveerde meisjes uit de dorpen van de regio Chikwawa, wiens familie dit zelf niet kan bekostigen.

Dagelijks leven

Naast de studiebeurzen pakken we ook veel andere projecten aan zoals Covid-19 hulp en het leveren van zonnepanelen voor goedkope en betrouwbare stroom. Daarnaast proberen we belangstelling te genereren en donaties te verwerven door mee te doen met liefdadigheidsacties zoals de Afrikaanse dag bij de Laurentius kerk in Voerendaal. Natuurlijk proberen we het contact met Saint Lawrence Secondary school zo warm mogelijk te houden door persoonlijk langs te gaan voor grote momenten zoals de overhandiging van de fondsen voor zonnepanelen in 2017.

Afrikaanse Dag

The Silver Jubilee

14th June, 2025 saw a diverse group of individuals flocking to St Lawrence Girls Secondary School to join the School in celebration of its 25 years of existence, the Silver Jubilee. Among those who came were the Parents for the students especially the Form 4s, the members of the community, the Alumni, the Rev Sisters and the Clergy.

The function commenced with the Holy Mass officiated by Bishop Peter Musikuwa of Chikwawa Diocese who is also the proprietor. Assisting him were 12 priests from the same diocese. The girls participated in almost all areas; choir which was conducted by our school secretary Miss Esther Masharubu, liturgical dance and mass serving.

Being celebrated together with the farewell party for the outgoing Form 4s, the organizing committee invited Honourable Patricia Kaliati, as the Guest of Honour. She a politician, motivation speaker and an entrepreneur apart from being a Catholic faithful.

It was quite a memorable event. Everyone who came was fed and left satisfied that they were honored.

All teachers and spouses of teachers played a great role in making the day colorful and memorable.

The Bishop in his speech thanked all the people who selflessly contributed to the organizing of this function. Notably; the Board In Neitherlands, the Alumni and the retired President Dr Bakili Muluzi for cash donations.

The organizing committee worked day and night to make the day happen. They orgazed fundraising functions that generated a sizeable amount of money.It comprised of Mr Lupenga, Mr Mhango, Miss Muyanika and Mr Moyo. The Headteacher Miss Chiwaya was the man advisor.

The money realized was used in these areas: liturgy, food, drinks, decorations, entertainment and general maintenance of the school.

We thank the Lord for making this function this colorful.
